Mother’s Milk

I strangle myself and suffocate on the tears.
My face is wet, smeared with the ash of the past.
Struggling to make sense of the shouting and yelling.

I am a little baby and my parents argue in the kitchen.
My father is drunk and full of rage. My belly is empty,
and I am hungry for my mother’s milk. Abandoned.
