I Touch the Silence

I touch the silence
In the frightful waking of night
Depressed and feeling lonely
I watch for the first signs of light
I hope — I pray — looking for an escape
So I can end the pain and end this strife
But I will not take my life, I will stay awake
In the face of horrid visions, I remain unafraid.
